Mandt Training

What is Mandt?

Do your staff work with students with challenging behavior?

KPBSD offers 2-day trainings in The Mandt System® to school staff. This training is especially important for staff working with students who have challenging behaviors.

The main goal of The Mandt System® is to teach staff how to effectively manage a potentially negative or even dangerous situation by first calming their own emotional response and behavior, then using a gradual and graded system of alternative interventions to assist the student to de-escalate. The training also teaches physical techniques that reduce possible injuries.

The focus of the training is on:

Day 1 “De-Escalating” skills
Interpersonal skills that prevent heightened emotions from controlling the behavior of everyone involved.

Day 2 “Physical”skills
Appropriate techniques that reduce the potential of injury if a physical restraint is necessary.
