Hi All,
We wanted to make sure that you noticed, that with the start of this school year, our SpecEd database has a new form for the AkAA Participation Criteria. We’ve attached the form, which is required by Alaska’s department of Education and should be used from now on at your annual IEP meeting to determine a student’s eligibility for the Alternate Assessment. A revised copy of the related Key Points is also attached.
Please use the form by getting team consensus on an student who is being considered for the AkAA as follows:
–The Team must agree that the answers to the first three questions is “Yes.”
–The Team must review statements 1-14 at the bottom of the form to confirm that each was not a consideration of the team in determining AkAA participation (all 14 boxes would then be checked).
